What’s in my Bag? My Everyday Essentials

♥ Happy Mother’s Day! ♥

Or if you’re not celebrating Mother’s Day, I hope you have a wonderful March 11th.

I woke up at 6:30am this morning and, after rolling around for what felt like hours, I finally decided to get up and crack on with today’s blog post. I find ‘What’s in my bag?’ posts really interesting, probably because I’m nosey and like to see what other people rely on as their daily essentials. I also think someone’s handbag contents can reflect their personality very well, especially mine (as you’ll soon see).

I will do my best to link each relevant item at the bottom of my post, however some will be tricky to re-find or simply be unavailable online! Do give this post a like if you enjoyed delving into the world of my handbag ♥

My current everyday handbag is one my boyfriend bought me last year from River Island. It’s become pretty worn and definitely needs an update but I find it really practical and perfectly sized for my everyday needs. I love the contrasting colours and think it looks like a smart, good quality and high-end handbag.

It has a simple short strap and a metallic popper in the middle to secure my contents. There’s also a small pocket inside the bag to hold any little items you want to separate, such as little lip balms or loose keys. The space inside can easily fit an A4 notepad or folder but I tend to just throw lots of different bits inside.

My essential items are, of course, my purse and my keys.

My keys contain house keys (for my house and my boyfriends house), car keys (for my little Vauxhall) and a whole load of pretty keyrings. I found the faux fur pompom in a store whilst I was in Paris, along with the Disneyland Paris keyring which was added last October during my birthday weekend. There’s also a simple gold ‘L’ which was gifted to me by my brother for Christmas and, finally, some little blue beaded decorations which I purchased from a shop in Spain last summer.

9788BEF7-D331-4CB5-A8FE-9104A9FFA13AMy purse is definitely something I love. It’s a baby blue and white Jasper Conran purse which is perfect for all of my needs. You can find some beautiful Jasper Conran pieces in both Debenhams and Westfields.

It has a zipped compartment for my coins as well as a main compartment which opens up to reveal space for all of my cards. My most important cards (I’m sure you understand why I can’t show a pic of these ones!) are easily available and there’s a clear pocket for my ID to sit in. I’ve got my collection of store cards, gift cards and vouchers tucked away in here and there’s still room for some more!  It’s a really practical purse and is still in amazing condition despite me owning it for a good few months.

Next are my extra luxuries I like to carry with me if I know I’m going to be out all day or I’m popping over to my boyfriend’s house and need a couple of necessities just to get me through until the following morning!

I’ve always got my mini Batiste dry shampoo in my bag for when my hair needs a quick pick-me-up. It’s a perfect size to fit into any handbag and a little goes a long way!

I also like to carry a hand cream around with me, especially to use at work. This Hollister laguana beach cream has a gorgeous floral scent to it and dries quickly on my hands so it’s a favourite of mine. It’s probably not intense enough if you have super dry skin but I like to use this as an everyday cream that I can just throw into a bag.

My Barry M nail varnish in freestyle is usually kept in my bag just in case of a nail emergency! It doesn’t get used too much but there have been occasions where I’ve been due to go to a meeting at work and noticed there’s a big chip in my nail which wasn’t there that morning… so a quick dab of this can see me through until I’m home and I can redo my colour.

My Apple headphones come with me everywhere along with my blush gold iPhone 8 because I never know when I’m going to be bored or sat on a long journey and need some music to get me along. If I’m in need of some headphones it’s not guaranteed that somebody else’s will fit my phone as, of course, it doesn’t have a headphone jack. So, these babies accompany me everywhere I go.

I also have a few mini makeup products that I’ll throw into my handbag before leaving the house, just in case I need to top up my eyes, face or lips.

The Benefit Roller Lash is the perfect size to hide in the inner pocket of my bag and is a really great mascara to use to top up your makeup. The head separates your lashes well and adds a really lovely amount of length, curl and volume.

I also keep my Bourjois Radiance Reveal concealer hidden away in my bag because I never know when I’m going to need a top up of concealer. Although this product lasts pretty well when I apply it in the morning, sometimes my chin or blemishes will need a quick second application in the afternoon. I won’t go into huge detail about this product as I recently reviewed it in more length (click here to open my Bourjois review in my February Favourites).

I’ve then got a few lip balms that are stored in my handbag because I’m always applying them during the day, especially throughout Winter! On this occasion I have my Nivea care & colour balm in Rose which is a moisturising lip balm with a pink tint. I also keep my Kiehl’s Butterstick in naturally nude in my handbag because I use it every single day for my dry lips (this is also featured in my February Favourites)! It’s my absolute favourite and I would recommend this to anyone as it comes in various colours, including clear, and is unfragranced.

Another item always kept in my handbag is a bottle of perfume. On this occasion it’s my Guerlain La Petite robe noire which I haven’t actually used much of yet. I own so many bottles of perfume and never stick to one which is actually not the best of ideas because eventually they’re all going to run out at the same time… oops. Pricey.

This perfume has a gorgeous girly smell and it took a while for me to let myself part with £99, but I eventually gave in (hence why I am using it very sparingly!). The design of the bottle is also stunning and has a beautiful pink tint to it. It’s literally a princess perfume bottle. I love it!

Finally, I’ve always got my current book inside my handbag because, like my headphones, I never know when I’ll have a spare minute to sit down and escape the world for a little while. I’ll take this out on my lunch break at work, on the train and when I’m at my boyfriend’s house and he’s getting ready for work etc.

The book I’m reading at the moment is Secrets of the Lighthouse by Santa Montefiore. She is one of my favourite authors because her books are light, easy reads. Although they have great plots, they don’t go too dark or depressing so I can pick them up whatever mood I’m in. Without giving too much away, this book is focused on a bit of escapism, mystery and romance.

I am, unfortunately, blessed with short sighted vision and so I always bring my glasses with me. I wear contact lenses most days but always have my glasses on hand in case I have to take one out or my eyes get dry sitting in the office. My glasses are a very dark pink/purple colour and have pretty leather inserts on the sides.

That sums up my bag contents that accompany me most days! I don’t like to overload my bag with too many items, but there are a few luxuries I can’t get by without. My next mission is to find a pretty new handbag to carry them all! Let me know if you have any recommendations in the comments below.

Do give this post a like if you’re as nosey as I am and enjoy finding out what people throw into their bags each morning! As always, I love to hear your thoughts in the comments section, and remember to follow my blog to ensure you never miss a post!

    1. I hate the walks of shame after a sleepover/night out looking super rough! So I always keep my dry shampoo in my bag to make sure my hair is looking good at least! Haha! Thanks so much for reading x
